In order to build connectivity with
grass-roots early on, young adults who are growing
up overseas could spend their summer vacations in
schools in Bengal to learn the local language and
culture, while contributing to the economic well-being
of the schools. Parents overseas could well afford
about $800 to $1000/child during each summer to
provide their children such language and culture
training while transplanting modern mechanisms of
education from overseas. A committee will be set
up to study how overseas Bengalis could connect
existing schools to improve their facilities and
programs.
In the same spirit, colleges and universities
could develop programs to attract young adults and
adults for special research programs which non-residents
could participate in if well designed and managed,
to extend their own reach into the cultural heritage
and/or sharpen/apply their knowledge for nourishing
their grass-roots. The most significant benefit
of such a process could be the informal relationships
that will be developed between Bengal's children
at home and overseas.
